The Admiral was founded in Chicago around 1933. From what I have read they started by making radio equipment and phonographs. They were one of the biggest suppliers of radio equipment during World War II (hopefully just the good side).
Admiral is owned by Whirpool and you will only find them sold at your local Home Depot. It's always nice to know a little background on your appliance brands!
